Bank Sohar to help Creative Learning Center
Bank Sohar views social responsibility as an integral part of doing business in the community. The Bank aims to create sustainable community benefits that will provide care and long term benefits to disadvantaged sections of the community. It is with this objective that the Bank recently offered help to the Creative Learning Center in Al Mawaleh. The laudable work of the Creative Learning Center was recently in jeopardy when the organisation experienced a shortage of resources and was forced to move out of their premises. Bank Sohar has stepped in to lend support and help the Center continue their excellent work.
“There is an urgency and a reward for supporting the cause of teaching children with learning disabilities,” observed Dr. Mohamed Abdulaziz Kalmoor CEO of Bank Sohar. “The urgency is that children might otherwise miss the benefits of special education and the reward is that all these children will eventually be successful and go on to perform well in the community. We have responded to this urgency and hope others will also join in. We feel confident the organisation will help integrate these children into their communities”
The Creative Learning Center is best described by the phrase the organisation uses on their website ‘Where kids love to learn.’ The Center focuses on kids - kids with special needs and children with learning disabilities. The Center is a haven for children diagnosed with symptoms of autism, dyslexia, Down’s syndrome and children who suffer from cognitive disabilities. Many of the children now at the Learning Center have difficulties in regular schools and are forced to drop out. At the Creative Learning Center, they are taught using a multi-sensory approach that includes both play and creative work. The Center also has a section for young adults who because of their special needs have had no access to education in regular schools.
